Mr. Cook came to teach at Sam Houston in the fall of 2025, after graduating Summa Cum Laude from Southern Methodist University with his master’s degree in saxophone performance. Prior to this, he taught 5th through 12th grade band as the woodwind director in Redwater ISD. He also earned his bachelor's degree from East Texas A&M University in the spring of 2022, following his student teaching at Princeton ISD.

Still a gigging musician, Mr. Cook picks up performances in a variety of community wind and jazz bands and performs in saxophone quartets and duos. He is also a member of the North American Saxophone Alliance, Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Educators Association, and an alumnus of Kappa Kappa Psi - National Honorary Band Fraternity.
