COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Students will be able to:

 

· Be able to understand and interpret musical symbols, note and rest values, and other musical terms.

 

· Be able to know the parts of each individually assigned instrument, and the proper care for it.

 

· Develop proper instrumental playing fundamentals (Posture, Hand Position, Embouchure, Breathing, Articulation, etc.)

 

· Develop the ability to produce a good sound (tone quality) and demonstrate proper intonation.

 

· Develop proper practice & rehearsal habits that will lead to a better sense of style, tempo, blend, balance & phrasing.

 

· Develop self-discipline skills from all of the above.
